How To Use Bugzilla (Bugzilla manual) - more information than you really need
General Use
Entering a bug
Choose "New" in the bottom menu to enter a new bug report
- Before you'll be able to enter a bug, you'll have to create an account with an email address and password
- Choose a "Product" that your bugs best fits within
Choose a "Component"within that Product (you can see Component descriptions by clicking on the "Component" link)
- If you don't know which Component your bug should be listed under, don't sweat it and simply make your best guess. The person who receives the bug report can then reassign it to the correct Component (and default assigned person) if your original guess was incorrect.
The important thing is to get the bugs into the system! Once in Bugzilla, it's easy to view the outstanding bugs by priority, severity, assignee, etc. so that they can be managed and tracked.
There is a Test Product that you can use as a sandbox to see how things work. (Note: bugzilla email goes to the bugs@idcommons.net mailing list.)
Resolving a bug
Bugzilla will send you bug related email from bugzilla-daemon@mail.comedia.com - please ensure that your spam filters do not block this address.
Note that if you assign a bug to yourself, the default preferences will not send you an email (it assumes you know that you have had a bug assigned to you).
- Assigning a bug to yourself is a great way to keep track of things that you know need to get done in the future.
Finding unresolved bugs
- You can find the bugs assigned to you by using the "My Bugs" link at the bottom of the page.
You can find bugs in general by using the "Search" link at the bottom of the page.
- Simply hitting the "Search" button on this page will display - by default - all the NEW, ASSIGNED and REOPENED bugs
- Of course, you can further modify your search by entering daa into one or more of the available lists and text fields
- Simply hitting the "Search" button on this page will display - by default - all the NEW, ASSIGNED and REOPENED bugs
